Indicators of Sustainable Human Development in West African Countries (Education Index in Nigeria as a Model)

Abstract

Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits, it is the act or process of transferring or acquiring general knowledge, of developing powers of thinking and judgment, of preparing oneself or others intellectually for life.

The Ministry of Education manages the education system at a federal level and this includes the management of universities and federal schools. Public schools and institutions of higher education are subject to regional control by the ministry at the state. The education sector was supposed to receive a lot of attention because it allowed a way for the development of the country, but unfortunately, the quality and standard of education in Nigeria is poor because it has not been given enough attention.
