The impact of media discourse in developing political awareness of the Iraqi society

Abstract

        The media, in general, plays a major role in spreading social and cultural values ​​and political awareness in society, due to its ability to reach the largest possible number of individuals and its wide spread in society. In addition to its role in disseminating information about important issues and events, as it constitutes an important source of human knowledge.  Through its discourses, the media works to form intellectual trends and behavioral attitudes by spreading ideas and opinions, imposing their control and influence on public opinion, and establishing social and cultural values ​​and customs.
