The Ascendancy of Regional and International Interests on the Iraqi Geostrategic Situation After the Withdrawal of American Forces in 2021
Abstract
Iraq is at the center of global geostrategic aspirations, as it is an energy and transportation hub, and an influential player in regional understandings. Therefore, the United States took it upon itself to restructure the bases of hegemony in the Middle East after withdrawing from Afghanistan completely while retaining some presence in Iraq, and arranging Gulf policy steps to establish relations new deal with Iraq in line with peace plans. On the other hand, Iraq has strongly returned to the determination of the Russian and Chinese leaders, and the expansionist ambitions in the region, as regional powers have proven their influence in curbing the unipolar system. The Iraqi file confirming its ambitions for regional leadership, curtailing the Kurdish role, and combating the Kurdistan Workers’ Party.
